RISE

The RISE Project (Reinforcing Integration of Skills for Employability and Internationalisation) addresses critical challenges in the higher education sector of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The project's ambition is to build capacity at both institutional and individual levels, reinforcing the international profile of Kurdish HEIs and improving the employability prospects for their graduates.
RISE aims to contribute to the sustainable development of Kurdish society through the reinforcement of the institutional capacity of universities generating a new class of young leaders and active players in the global and local scenarios. With the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research KRG as an associated partner, RISE fits with their strategy and reform process, by ensuring the scalability of its model, supporting the competitiveness and attractiveness of Kurdish universities both locally and internationally.

RISE aims to create synergies between internationalisation and employability strategies with the ultimate goal of reinforcing the capacity of universities to produce open-minded capable young Kurdish graduates The Ministry’s involvement guarantees the wider adoption of project outcomes, ensuring long lasting impact across the region.
Kurdish universities will be supported in strengthening International Relations Offices (IROs) and Career Development Centres (CDCs), thus reinforcing two key pillars of institutional development. These interventions are expected to significantly improve institutional credibility, academic relevance and graduate competitiveness in both local and international job markets.

Key objectives include:
● Create a clear and coordinated strategy for institutional growth by linking
internationalisation and employability.
● Strengthen the skills of university staff and students, equipping them to contribute to sustainable development locally and globally.
● Enhance the international visibility of HEIs through mobility, networking and better internationalisation services.
● Foster an entrepreneurial mindset in students and graduates by building stronger connections between universities and industries.
